Learning Style Test for Students of SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3
News about activity of Learning Style Test of Students of SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3
The success of the learning process for students is influenced by the alignment between teaching methods and the students' learning styles. Learning styles are divided into three types: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Combinations of these three learning styles, such as visual-auditory, visual-kinesthetic, or others, can also form a student's unique learning style. Currently, many schools understand the differences in students' learning styles and strive to implement appropriate teaching methods, allowing students to learn optimally.
Based on this, Katrim Alifa Putrikita, M.Psi., Psychologist, from the Psychological Services Bureau (BLP) of the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY), is responsible for conducting the Learning Style Test at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta. Katrim, along with BLP assistants, accompanied all first-grade students in conducting the Learning Style Test, which took place over two days, on Monday, July 22, 2024, and Tuesday, July 23, 2024. A total of 136 first-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta participated in the learning style test.
Katrim Alifa stated that the purpose of the Learning Style Test is to identify each student's learning type or style, so that the teaching provided to the students can be more appropriate. The results of the Psychological Examination (HPP) from the Learning Style Test will be given to the school, which will then be forwarded to the class teachers and parents.
"Through this, both teachers and parents are expected to adjust their teaching methods to the children, as they will know their learning styles from the beginning of their elementary school journey. This not only optimizes the teaching and learning process but also helps minimize the risk of stress in children due to a learning process that does not align with their learning style," said Katrim Alifa.
Riski Husna Wardani, S.kep., Ns, who is the UKS officer and also the person in charge of the Learning Style Test, stated that this activity greatly assists class teachers in teaching students with various learning styles/models. "In the future, it is hoped that class teachers can apply the results of the learning style tests provided," she said.
